This is Mary Meng from Shanghai study center. I took your latest classes on VOB and I was surprised that I began to love the dialogues, the activities even the supplementary materials in our textbooks. Your inspiriting encouragement evoked my interests in learning English the BeiwaiOnline way (i.e. to fully use the learning resources available both online and offline). You set up a goal for me to chase.
I enrolled in BeiwaiOnline last fall but I spent little time in studying the textbooks, rather, I watched a lot of American movies. I did not know an effective way to study English, and the textbooks were boring to me.
However, since I took your class on VOB I learned useful techniques on improving my oral English, and I was so lucky to choose to speak in VOB. You pointed out many mistakes I made and gave me some suggestions on how get over the hurdles. Truth be told, nobody corrected my spoken English before, nor did my tutor in Shanghai Learning Center. Although I understand that my local tutor has being trying to encourage me not to lose faith in learning English and she always praises me, I believe it is also important that my mistakes are spotted and corrected, which would push me to move forward.
I also learned how to talk more effectively in VOB. After your online class, I realized that I needed to slow down when talking to my partner online because 2 or 3 seconds were needed to delivery my sound to the other end. If I have a chance to speak on VOB next time I will avoid speaking too fast to let my partner have time to take in and then respond to what I said.
I do appreciate your tutoring and I hope to see you again on VOB next Wednesday.
